Whether you are a foodie, adventure-lover or you’re making memories with the family, the Scenic Rim has so much to offer.  Grab your camera, your empty esky and your sense of exploration for a day to remember!

Weekend Day Trip (Friday to Sunday)

First stop: Summer Land Camels

Summerland Camels

Summer Land Camels is Australia’s largest Camel Dairy and the World’s largest wild camel training centre. We’re open 7 days a week and entry to the farm is free. You can visit our cafe and pat and feed our friendly camels. Take a Tour behind the scenes of our innovative and fascinating business and taste the fresh produce straight from the source. Learn all about camels, the health benefits of camel dairy and how this emerging industry can create a solution for a national problem.

Always wanted to ride a camel? You can do that at Summer Land Camels too! Enjoy morning tea or lunch in our Homestead Cafe with delicious meals that showcase our award-winning products.

Sample our Camel Milk skincare which is perfect for the whole family and designed for skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. Fall in love with our friendly camels and visit our gift shop to take a little bit of Summer Land Camels home with you.

Scenic Rim Farm Shop & Café and Elderflower Farm

541 Kents Lagoon Road, Kalbar 4309

Not far up the road towards Kalbar is a delightful Farm Shop & Cafe nestled under towering Jacarandas and surrounded by working farms. Enjoy local coffee and fresh local food and shop fresh produce and specialty items.

At the same location is Elderflower Farm.  Farmed by Fred and Rachel Watkins, the flower field produces old fashioned heirloom blooms which Rachel uses in her garden style bouquets and arrangements. Flowers are available for sale in her on site rustic garden and flower shop, and by delivery on Tuesday to Thursday where available.

Scenic Rim Brewery

898 Reckumpilla St, Cnr Anders Rd, Mount Alford.

Scenic Rim Brewery & Cafe is a small family-owned brewery located in the picturesque town of Mount Alford in the beautiful Scenic Rim. The heritage listed building houses the brewery, cafe as a range of local produce. 

Snack on European inspired food like bitterballen and gourmet hotdogs. Coffee, cake and daily specials also available in addition to their standard menu.

Trading hours: OPEN Thursday to Sunday 10am-5pm, CLOSED Monday to Wednesday

The Overflow Estate 1895

1660 Beaudesert Boonah Rd, Wyaralong 

The Overflow Estate 1895 is a historic grazing property turned winery. It spans the Beaudesert-Boonah highway and fronts the extraordinary Lake Wyaralong.  The newly constructed dam, completed in 2010, forms the northern boundary of the property.  The Overflow boasts approximately 12 kilometres of waterfront land.

They have a boutique viticultural operation, producing about 10,000 bottles of our four varieties annually. Enjoy the ambience, the food, the wine and the thrill of just being in this little slice of Heaven.

Trading hours: Thursday - Friday 11am to 3pm, Saturday – Sunday 10am to 4pm, live music Sundays – 11.30am to 3.30pm.

Midweek Day Trip (Monday to Thursday)

The Scenic Rim is a rural area and many tourism businesses are closed during the week, but don’t let this stop you!  There is still plenty to see and do in this stunning country area.

First stop: Summer Land Camels

As described above, Summer Land Camels is Australia’s largest Camel Dairy and the World’s largest wild camel training centre.

From Monday to Thursday, you can visit our farm and cafe, enjoy a delicious lunch and camelcino, and pat and feed our friendly camels.

Haigh Park, Lake Moogerah

Moogerah Connection Rd, Charlwood.

Lake Moogerah is a popular spot for boating, swimming, hiking, BBQs and picnics. Only 20 minutes up the road from the Scenic Rim Farm Shop, it’s also a favourite location for photographers and hikers.

Make sure you take the short walk across the dam wall! Kids will enjoy watching the boats on the lake and spotting birds, turtles and other wildlife in the area. Enjoy the sensational view of the lake and mountains  and in the other direction, the view down to Reynolds Creek below the dam wall is mesmerising, especially when water is being released from the dam into the creek.

Bunjurgen Estate Vineyard

121 Brent Road, Bunjurgen.

A boutique vineyard with cellar door selling wine and port made from grapes grown on the property.  Extensive picnic areas, and vineyard walks available. 

Worth a stop to have a chat with Dave the winemaker!

Boonah

Boonah is a quintessential Australian small country town.  With a rich multi-cultural history, this agricultural town has become the place to be! It has a traditional High Street shopping precinct with some hidden gems including Duck Junction and Maynards Store which is a family owned business, trading since 1944.

Boonah Art Trail

High St Boonah is alive with culture!  A range of art installations by local and international artists feature the history, wildlife and indigenous culture of the area.

Flavours Café

 8 Railway Street, Boonah.

Now a popular local café, Flavours Café is in an iconic building built in 1916. It was originally the offices for the Boonah Butter Factory. The building was purpose built in July 1916 to house a suite of offices to service the new ultra modern Boonah Butter Factory. It contained a Manager’s Office, Accountant’s Office, Clerk’s Room Public Office, storerooms and staff dining room.  In 2014 the historic significance of the building was recognised and it was placed on the Scenic Rim Heritage Register.

Flavours Café is owned and run by Scenic Rim local Mark O’Shaughnessy who is always up for a chat and is always keen to share the history of his building. 

Delicious hearty meals, served with good old-fashioned hospitality, you are sure to enjoy the warm country ambience of this historic building.

They are fully licensed and offer a great range of juices and other drinks.  Gluten freevegetarian and vegan options are available plus a children’s menu. Airconditioned in summer and with a toasty fireplace in winter, they are a perfect stop in your country day-trip.
