Dairy Protein Allergy and Camel Milk - One Family's Story
Andrea’s family has a hard time when it comes to dairy! They are not alone - Cow’s milk allergy is the most prevalent food allergy in infants and small children and although most children outgrow their allergy, some keep it for life. Other’s struggle with lactose intolerance and dairy sensitives which they can be born with or can develop over time.
Andrea has 2 children who have been diagnosed with dairy protein allergies and her husband has Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) which is exacerbated by dairy. In addition to this, Andrea has a dust allergy and asthma and her mother has developed a bovine dairy sensitivity. Since their family made the switch to Camel Milk, they have experienced many benefits to their health.
Here’s their story, told by Andrea:
“My daughter Indiana was diagnosed with a dairy protein allergy at a few weeks old, she has trouble digesting any sort of dairy product and it causes wheezing, problems with her airways, stomach upset, vomiting and diarrhoea and makes her very upset.
I came to visit Summer Land Camels with my elderly mum to take her for a nice day out and some morning tea when I got chatting with one of your lovely staff and started considering buying Camel Milk to try with my then 8 month old and 4 year old (Indiana and her brother Dominic who has the same diagnosis). That day I bought several bottles of Camel Milk and found it really benefited our entire family.
Since then I go to the farm every 3 to 4 weeks from Chuwar to buy around 12 bottles each time - I get 10 blast frozen so they last us a few week. Indiana has been drinking Camel Milk since she was about 8 months old and she is now 13 months and we plan to continue! My husband, myself and our 4 year old drink it too and I feel we have all seen benefits while drinking it.
Indiana has been on an allergy formula since she was born (Novalac/rice based) we have found it has also caused some issues with her digestion and are working towards transitioning her off it now that she is a year old as she has end up needing medication to help with her digestion and reflux while on it. Since starting on Camel Milk she has had less issues and we are hoping once she is completely off formula we will be able to take her off the 2 medications she currently takes.
We have tried using lactose free products and goats milk but have found they were still not right for her and affected her similarly to normal cows milk. Camel Milk seems to be much easier for her to digest and she likes the taste unlike the others alternatives.
I have noticed another benefit from drinking Camel Milk. I'm allergic to dust and animal hair and break out in hives/have issues with my asthma around them. Since we started buying Camel Milk, I have stopped drinking cows milk myself and have found it has significantly improved my allergies. I've gone from taking an allergy tablet every day to about once a week. My elderly mum has also changed from almond milk (she can’t digest cows milk anymore) to Camel Milk and said she has found it much better and prefers the taste over almond milk.
My husband was actually very reluctant to try the Camel Milk but he has always had issues with dairy (he has IBS) so when he tried it and found it was really gentle on his stomach, he was really impressed and now it's the only milk he drinks.
As you can see the Camel Milk has had a huge positive impact on our family and we are just so grateful we found it! We now have a milk we can all drink and enjoy!!”

Why is Camel Milk good for you?
Camel Milk has been treasured for thousands of years for its unique benefits to hair, skin, health and beauty. It is rich in healthy vitamins and minerals, and contains disease-fighting immunoglobulins - boosting the effectiveness of the immune system and providing potent healing benefits for the gut.
Camel Milk is quite different in its composition compared to cow’s milk making it a better alternative for a healthy metabolism. The allergenic milk protein β-lactoglobulin (BLG) is absent in Camel Milk and it does not contain the A1 casein protein found in cow’s milk.
This means that Camel Milk is a nutritious dairy alternative that is suitable for most people who have sensitivities to Bovine Dairy.
Camel Milk has approximately double the amount of β-casein and five times more immunoglobulins than cow’s milk and it is also a great source of Calcium, Magnesium and Lactoferrin.
Naturally homogenised and high in Vitamins B & C, Iron, and Essential Fatty Acids 3, 6, 9, Camel Milk is nutrient dense, with more vitamins and minerals than any of the other milks.
It is high in disease fighting immune proteins - anti-inflammatory and anti-viral - to support the immune system and gut health. Research findings are indicating that when compared to other milks, Camel Milk is closest in composition to human milk.
