Camel Milk Feta Wins Gold

Camel Milk Feta Wins Gold

The Champions of the 2023 Sydney Royal Cheese and Dairy Show have been announced with Summer Land Camels taking home Gold for the Camel Milk Marinated Persian Feta and Silver for Camel Milk.

We are very proud to share that this is the sixth year running that our camel cheese has placed in the prestigious competition, winning three gold and three silver medals since 2018.

Lyndey Milan OAM, Chair, Sydney Royal Fine Food Show said all winners were selected by a judging panel of industry specialists, who aim to select the best in Australia while nurturing the growth of producers nationally.

‘‘Sydney Royal is committed to fostering a competitive space that assesses, promotes and rewards Australian produce across a large number of categories, and this year’s show was no exception,’’ she said.

This win builds on our solid record, having won a total of 80 awards for our products from The Sydney Royal, Royal Queensland Food & Wine Show, The Australian Distilled Spirits Award and the delicious. Produce Awards.

“We are excited and proud to share that our Camel Milk Marinated Persian Feta and our fresh Camel Milk both won awards at the Sydney Royal Show,” said Paul Martin.

“It is definitely a crowd favourite so it’s not surprising that it always scores well with the judges.

“Our feta has a delicate texture and flavour, and a delightfully smooth mouthfeel,” he said.

Our fresh camel milk and camel milk powder are also top performers, taking out 15 medals between them in the last 6 years.

“The milk is produced on our farm with camels from the Australian outback, that we saved from being culled,” said Paul.

“Camel milk is highly prized around the world for its health benefits and as a nutritional ‘dairy alternative’ and here in Australia we have the healthiest camels with the best genetics.

“Instead of culling these amazing creatures, it makes a lot more sense to create a sustainable industry and we are part of a drive to make that happen,” he said.

Paul said that there are four words to sum up the brand essence of Summer Land Camels – Feel Well, Do Good.  Producing camel milk for those who need it for health reasons and saving the wild camels are his top motivators.

“But in addition to that, it’s good to know that we are producing such high quality products - all the awards that our camel dairy products have won really show why they are so popular with foodies and chefs.”
